Silly Creatures

Ok, so I missed a couple days. Actually, been busy at work, if you can believe that. I've been at my new job nearly 3 weeks and am starting to blend in with the rest of the crew. I found myself the other day wishing I had more to do. Of course, I should have been more careful, cuz of course I got what I wished for.

Now I'm not disappointed that I have more to do, not at all. I'm happy to be doing something, but I'm more happy that I've been given a chance to do something challenging. So challenging, that my brain hurts!!! Goodness, it's been a few years since I've had that feeling at work!!!

This newfound challenge has got me reflecting on how silly and fickle human nature is. One minute, we find ourselves wishing "we had more time" or that we "have to much to do at work", and we think that we would welcome a more laid back workday. But, once you get that, what do you do? You think things like "I'm bored" or "I wish I had more to do". And then, once you have more, the whole vicious cycle starts again!!!

The only thing that is consistent about Human Nature, at least in my experience, is that we don't ever want to stagnate. We want to switch between busy and lazy modes. I can remember working hard for so long, that all I longed for was a long weekend, or a vacation to do nothing. And sure enough, when I got it, I almost found myself thankful to be back at work. (sometimes, but definitely not ALL the time!!)

So now that I am involved in a project that may be a little over my head, I am starting to hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel and welcome it. Only to know that another tunnel opening is only around the corner.

So for now, I'll be happy doing something, and in a few weeks I might be on here complaining about wanting downtime...

Remedial Driver's Ed

I was driving home last night, and unfortunately I was behind a big ass SUV or truck or something. You know, one of those oversized vehicles that the 4'3" woman behind the wheel has no idea to drive.

I think there should be a mandatory course for these idiots to take when they buy these big ass vehicles, cuz they have no clue. Sure, they got powerful v8 engines, but they drive them like they are volkswagens. Nothing drives me more crazy when I get behind one at a stop light and they are going straight, and me right. There is SUPPOSED to be enough room for right turners to creep up and turn, but of course these jackasses take up the whole friggin' lane! And when they do BARELY leave enough room, THEY are the ones giving ME the dirty look!!!

I especially like it when these geniouses pull out in front of you, again unaware that they are driving almost 4 tons of steel and fiberglass. It's bad enough they are inconsiderate drivers to start with, but the fact that they don't know how to drive the oversized beasts is worse.

Another thing I hate about these driving impaired nimrods, is they REALLY seem to forget common sense on the highway. "KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS". I hate it when I get behind one of these jerks in the left lane, unable to see through or around the mammoth while they are NOT passing or BARELY doing the speed limit, only to find out 10 miles down the road that there is NO ONE in front of them!!!!

So contact GM, lobby the Auto Dealers, make Oversized Vehicle Training mandatory to all idiots who buy these things!!! Call your Senator!! Vote OVT!!!

Wimpy Kids

I watched a Denis Leary christmas special the other night. I really like his humor cuz he is in your face and to the point. He was making fun of todays ultra conservative stance on toys for kids and safety and compared them to yesterday's gifts. While he was doing his job as a comedian and making people laugh, he was also dead on with his observations.

For example, he showed a BB gun and addressed the concerns over shooting someone's eye out. Basically, only the stupid, careless kids get their eyes shot out. I agree we may be treating todays generations "too softly". Although they may grow up to be more sensitive (and in most cases ultra liberal) they will be stupid, and wimpy. Any kid who's gotten hurt doing something stupid is pretty sure NOT to do it again!!!

Yeah, I'd feel bad if my son got hurt playing with the "Creepy Crawl" oven, but chances are, after he sticks his hand in it while it's hot, he MOST likely will stop the practice of putting his hands in ovens or, be tough and be able to deal with it if he's dumb enough to do it again.

Bring back the dangerous toys, it makes our kids tuff. We don't need another generation of wimpy, whiny teens who's biggest injury is spraining their fingers on their Cell Phone text messaging each other. We're getting my son a bike for this christmas, and be sure that we will take the training wheels off as soon as possible, so he learns that LIFE doesn't come with training wheels. Pain and injuries are a part of life, the sooner we learn to deal with them, the tougher people we will be, and the less likely will we be put out due to these experiences.

By all means, be safe and cautious, but don't be a weeny.
